Burghley House

In the 1990s Henry Freeland prepared a scheme for the Cecil Trust to redevelop an area of Stamford. The scheme led to the sale of the area and to the appointment to act as the conservation architect to Burghley House. Since then, major condition reports have been prepared for the house, its extensive outbuildings, the Bottle Lodges, the Lion Bridge, and Lord Burghley’s Almshouses in Stamford. Some repairs have also been carried out to the house and outbuildings involving reroofing of the Orangery, rebuilding and conservation to chimneys and parapets, reslating of outbuilding roofs in Collyweston slates, stonework repairs to the Lion Bridge, alterations and improvements to the House for members of the family.
